We provide everything but your food and the charcoal for the grill. Go to the end of this Web page for an amenity summary. Pinecone Lodge is a nonsmoking property. Please do not consume tobacco while you enjoy the amenities of Pinecone Lodge.
An information book greets you, familiarizing you with all of Pinecone Lodge's amenities.
There are four telephones in the house. You may wish to have calls forwarded to Pinecone Lodge, or just enjoy the peace and quiet. Calls to Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Cripple Creek, Divide, Florissant, and parts of Park County are local calls.
Can't leave the office behind? In the "wildlife room" you will find a computer work desk for your laptop with a telephone jack for your modem.
The television is not connected to a satellite service; however, there is a small library of DVD and VHS movies (rated G through R) you may play on the TV, or you may wish to bring your own movies. You may also bring your own music CDs. They will play on either the TV or on the radio/CD player in the kitchen.
There is a small library of nature reference books at Pinecone Lodge. A colony of chipmunks lives in the woodpile behind the house, and in the woodpile around the fire ring to the north of the house. According to the neighbors and our own personal observations, most of Colorado’s wildlife species have been on the property or in the neighborhood.
There is a radio/CD player under a kitchen cabinet. There is a clock radio in the master bedroom.
You will find the kitchen stocked with glassware, dishes and flatware with service for 12. There is an assortment of pots, pans, and cooking utensils, including a few aluminum baking pans. Yes, there is a corkscrew for that bottle of wine you brought. There is a convenience store at the Conoco station in Florissant (5 minute drive), and another convenience store in Florissant at the Sinclair gas station. Both these convenience stores are nicely stocked. There is a small market in Divide (10 minute drive). The nearest supermarkets (two: a Safeway and a City Market) are in Woodland Park (20 minute drive).
If you need them, there is a washer and dryer in the utility room. We provide detergent and dryer sheets. Pinecone Lodge sleeps 14 and a half (counting the crib!). You will find a queen size bed in the master bedroom (the "bird room"), another queen size bed in the "wildlife room," two twin beds in the "fishing room," two twin beds and two double beds in the "tree room," and a double-bed size futon in the family room, adding up to space for 14 in beds, plus a baby crib/playpen. You may choose your own bed. The queen size bed in the master bedroom (the “bird room”) and the queen size bed at the other end of the house (the “wildlife room”) both have warming blankets. We provide bed linens and pillows.
Depending on the season of the year and the weather, we strongly urge you to build a fire in the wood-burning stove. It keeps the house quite toasty, and provides a romantic ambience. We provide firewood, plus kindling and newspapers for starting the fire. The furnace, water heater, and stove are all fueled by natural gas. We provide liquid hand soap in both bathrooms and the kitchen, body wash in both showers, and towels. You will find a hair dryer in each bathroom.
There is a whirlpool tub in the master bathroom, with assorted lotions for use with the tub. We encourage you to use the whirlpool tub and relax.
In the utility room you will find a snow sled and other items which are great for sledding in the snow. A loop road traverses the back two-thirds of the property. Yes, you can safely drive the loop road, although we don’t know why you would want to. On the property, the road leading west from the house, and the road to the north of the house both are great for sledding, assuming there is snow on the ground.
This fence surrounds all
Go through the rear gate A four foot high fence completely surrounds the property, with gates at the front and at the rear. We urge you to walk the entire property at least once; it’s quite peaceful. Pinecone Lodge backs onto Pike National Forest.
